Southern Cross - Sailing Tours

The Southern Cross is a fifty eight foot ketch rigged yacht; Cook Island surveyed and refurbished to carry 25 passengers in shore waters. Passengers are welcomed aboard by the Captain and introduced to the crew before a short safety briefing is held.

As the SV Southern Cross departs the Avatiu Harbour passengers’ are invited to take the helm and steer the boat or help with sails if they are interested or just relax and soak in the amazing view. Depending on the wind, the Southern Cross generally sails along the west of the island of Rarotonga where the view is spectacular and where you can truly appreciate the sheer size and beauty of Rarotonga.During Whale season (July-October) when the water is a brilliant blue, Humpback Whales frequent the seas around Rarotonga and have been known to come up to and under the Southern Cross. Game Boats fish in the abundant seas of Rarotonga so don’t be surprised if you see fishermen pulling in large Marlin or other such Game Fish.
